Prof. Dr. Idan Shalev

Idan Shalev grew up in Israel. He received my BSc degree in Biology from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Prof. Dr. Shalev moved to Jerusalem and completed an MSc and PhD degree under the supervision of Richard Ebstein at the Hebrew University (Dissertation title: The Genetic and Psychoneuroendocrine Basis of Social Stress Response in Humans). He worked in Singapore at the National University of Singapore, department of Psychology, as a research associate (Stress and Decision Making). Then, he moved to Durham, NC, to join Caspi & Moffitt group as a Postdoctoral Associate at Duke University. His current work is concerned about the role of telomeres. Specifically, telomere erosion in children who are victims of maltreatment and telomere erosion in psychiatric disorders. Idan plays guitar, and his Hebrew name in English translates to Age of Serenity.
