Think Tank Meetings and other Activities
We are interested in supporting Think Tank meetings and other events, such as the Symposium in Berlin in July 2019, which correspond to the Foundation’s objectives in terms of content. Please contact us first with a summary of your idea and your preliminary concept. We will then decide whether we are interested in a further discussion of your proposed activity and invite you to meet with us.

The Foundation supports RECHARGE
Together with our partners, we are actively engaged in projects which make a meaningful contribution to our society to master the present crisis caused by COVID-19.
The Klaus Grawe Foundation supports the project RECHARGE at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and Zurich University. It is a brief psychological intervention to build resilience in health care workers during COVID-19.
RECHARGE is an intervention program for health care workers (HCWs) to cope with stress mainly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program originally is developed by the WHO (“Problem Management Plus, published 2016) and adapted for the special circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a brief psychological intervention for adults affected by adversity emerging from stress exposure, RECHARGE teaches HCWs well-documented strategies to manage acute stress. It includes psychoeducation, arousal reduction techniques, managing worries and problem-solving skills, behavioral activation, and enhancement of meaningful activities, all based on the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Fresh from the press: in 25th anniversary issue of the journal DEVELOPMENT AND PSYCHOPATHOLOGY
Terrie Moffitt, the host of the 2012 Klaus Grawe Think Tank Meeting published the results of the interdisciplinary meeting together with the participating scientists in the article “Childhood exposure to violence and lifelong health: Clinical Intervention science and stress-biology research join forces”.
“Many young people who are mistreated by an adult, victimized by bullies, criminally assaulted, or who witness domestic violence react to this violence exposure by developing behavioral, emotional, or learning problems. What is less well known is that adverse experiences like violence exposure can lead to hidden physical alterations inside a child’s body, alterations that may have adverse effects on life-long health. We discuss why this is important for the field of developmental psychopathology and for society, and we recommend that stress-biology research and intervention science join forces to tackle the problem. We examine the evidence base in relation to stress-sensitive measures for the body (inflammatory reactions, telomere erosion, epigenetic methylation, and gene expression) and brain (mental disorders, neuroimaging, and neuropsychological testing). We also review promising interventions for families, couples, and children that have been designed to reduce the effects of childhood violence exposure. We invite intervention scientists and stress-biology researchers to collaborate in adding stress-biology measures to randomized clinical trials of interventions intended to reduce effects of violence exposure and other traumas on young people.”
